10 Most Common Mistakes People Do In Hajj & Umrah

Nobody can be perfect. But doing the same mistakes that a lot of people are doing is also not good. When it comes to Umrah we should avoid the common mistakes of Hajj & Umrah that a lot of people are doing from year over year. So next when you book your Easter Umrah try to avoid the following mistakes to make your Umrah more acceptable to Allah Almighty.

• Think that Any Dua (Pray) is accepted at the First Sight of Kaabah

One of the most common mistake or you even can say a myth found in most pilgrims. There is no evidence that proves about it. For any worship that Muslims do are based on evidence and it doesn’t have an authentic to prove about this pray.

• Screaming Dua’s in Unison

Some people shout with the max of their vocal cords. They do so because they are following an Umrah guide person. Some people also think that reciting duas in such a way would make it acceptable to Allah Almighty. In fact, Allah Almighty knows everything we are planning. Reciting duas by this method also interrupts other pilgrims busy in their own Umrah.

• Kissing Black Stone from a Distant or Stopping in Tawaf to do so

Some people think that their Umrah or Hajj would not be valid if they don’t kiss the Black Stone. Some people also through a ‘flying kiss’ to the Black Stone from a distant. Some even do this at every round of their tawaf.

Another common thing that people do is that they stop during their tawaf to kiss or touch the Black Stone. Both things that people do in Hajj or Umrah are not from the sunnah of our Prophet (PBUH). If one can’t touch the black stone he can simply start tawaf by pointing towards the Black Stone with his hands and taking the intention.

• Specifying Dua’s for each Tawaf Round

Some books written on Umrah or Hajj guide people to recite specific dua at each round of their tawaf around the Kaaba. If it would be true our Holy Prophet (PBUH) must have done this and advised us to do. The only dua specified between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone is:

“Rabbana atina’ fid-dunya hasana wa fil-akhirati hasana wa qina adhaban-nar” Al-Bakarah Verse 127

“Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and save us from the punishment of the Fire.”

• Undertaking Multiple Umrah’s

We have seen a number of people that go to any of the meeqat points to resume the state of ihram and perform Umrah again and again. Some do twice a day and some even more. This is also not from the practice of our Prophet (PBUH).

If leaving Makkah for multiple Umrah performances the Prophet (PBUH) would have done so. He (PBUH) stayed for 19 days in Makkah after the conquest but didn’t leave even for one time to perform a second Umrah. He (PBUH) can easily do if it was beneficial.

• Performing Tawaf on Someone else’s behalf

Some people perform multiple tawafs after completing their own Umrah and donate its rewards to their beloved ones. Even some people specifically ask the pilgrim to perform one tawaf for them. This doesn’t have evidence from any hadith.

Only you can do on someone else’s behalf is performing the whole Umrah or Hajj. Not only tawaf.

• 40 Prayers in Madinah is Compulsory

Some people think that offering 40 prayers in the Masjid-al-Nabawi is compulsory and a part of Hajj. This is not true. The fact they follow is based on a daeef (weak) hadith that can’t be given as evidence for this.

Definitely, it is good if someone spends more time than the obligatory prayers but it is not compulsory to offer a specific number of prayers in Madinah. Also, visiting Madinah is not a part of Hajj.

• Touching over the Kaabah and Maqam-e-Ibrahim

Some people touch the Kaabah walls and Maqam-e-Ibrahim and then wipe their hands on their body. They think that doing such an act has blessings in it. This also doesn’t have an authentic prove from Islamic Shariah.

Some also touch the pillars of the Grand Mosque. If it has any kind of benefits for us the Holy Prophet would definitely had advised us. Blessing only comes from following Allah Almighty orders and following the Prophet (PBUH).

• Assuming Jamarat as Devils

Some people tend to believe that Jamarat are devils. They are stoning the devils. Some even call this ritual of Hajj as ‘Stoning the Shaitan (Devil)’. All we do is an act of worship followed by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). You don’t need to get emotional.

• Haircut at Marwa

When people complete the ritual of Sa’I they get their head trimmed from two to three places at Marwa Mountain. Some shave their head. This is the totally wrong way. Instead, you should maintain the honour of the mosque and get your head shaved from a barber.

Next time when you are going to perform Hajj or Umrah you shouldn’t perform these mistakes. You shouldn’t waste your money by doing such baseless things in your Hajj or Umrah performance. Make your Hajj and Umrah acceptable to Allah and trust only approved hajj agents UK.

Allah Knows The Best.
